About the practice

Fifteen years of NHS experience, brought into a quieter, more personal practice

Rebecca Tonkinson spent over fifteen years working within the NHS, supporting people individually and in groups toward their own therapeutic goals. A Calm Place grew from wanting to offer that same depth of care in a slower, more personal setting — combining CBT, mindfulness and yoga into one practice centred on the whole person.

How it works

A steady, unhurried path from first message to lasting change

  1. Step 01

    Reach out

Send a short message about what's brought you here. There's no pressure and no obligation to commit to anything yet.

  2. Step 02

    Have an intro call

A free, no-obligation conversation to talk through what you need and whether working together feels like the right fit.

  3. Step 03

    Begin together

We agree a plan suited to you — whether that's weekly therapy, a mindfulness course, or finding your footing on the mat.

  4. Step 04

    Grow at your pace

Sessions build steadily, with space to reflect, practise between meetings, and notice what's shifting along the way.

Common questions

What people usually want to know first

Do you offer sessions online, or only in person?

Therapy is offered online by video or telephone, wherever you are in the UK. Mindfulness courses run online too. Yoga includes both a local in-person class near Welshpool and online 1:1 and pregnancy/postnatal options.

Do you work with health insurance providers?

Not currently — sessions are booked as a private, direct arrangement rather than through an insurer. Get in touch to check current availability and pricing.

How do I know which service is right for me?

If you're unsure, just send a message describing what you're looking for. The free intro call is exactly for working this out together, with no pressure to book anything afterwards.

Is everything confidential?

Yes. Sessions are treated as confidential in line with professional ethical guidelines, with the limited exceptions explained during your intro call and set out in the Privacy Policy.

Still not sure?

There's no wrong question. Send a message, or book a free intro call and talk it through together.
