Terms & Conditions
Effective date: 1 June 2026
These terms cover both your use of this website and the arrangement for booking therapy, mindfulness or yoga sessions with A Calm Place. Please read them alongside the Privacy Policy and Disclaimer.
1. About A Calm Place
A Calm Place is the trading name of Rebecca Tonkinson, a sole trader based near Welshpool, Powys, offering CBT therapy, mindfulness courses and yoga classes on a private, self-employed basis.
2. Use of this website
This website is provided for general information about A Calm Place's services. It is not itself a booking system — bookings are confirmed directly by email or during an intro call. Content on this site (text, design and graphics) belongs to A Calm Place unless otherwise stated, and may not be copied or reused without permission.
3. Bookings and fees
- Therapy sessions are currently priced at £90 per 50-minute session, payable in advance or as otherwise agreed at booking.
- Pricing for mindfulness courses, workshops and yoga classes is confirmed directly at the time of enquiry, as it can depend on format (individual, group or workplace) and duration.
- Sessions are currently offered on a private, direct basis; we do not invoice insurance providers.
4. Cancellations and rescheduling
We understand that plans change. As a general policy:
- Please give at least 48 hours' notice to cancel or rearrange a 1:1 therapy or yoga session wherever possible.
- Sessions cancelled with less notice, or missed without notice, may still be charged in full, as the time has been reserved exclusively for you.
- For multi-week courses (such as the 8-week MBCT or pregnancy yoga courses), places are booked for the full course; refunds for missed individual sessions are considered on a case-by-case basis.
- We may occasionally need to reschedule a session due to illness or unforeseen circumstances, and will give as much notice as possible when this happens.
5. Confidentiality
Sessions are treated as confidential in line with the ethical frameworks of the BABCP (for CBT) and BAMBA (for mindfulness teaching). The narrow, standard exceptions to confidentiality — such as a serious and immediate risk to your safety or someone else's, or a legal requirement to disclose information — are explained clearly before any sessions begin. See our Privacy Policy for more detail.
6. Not an emergency or crisis service
A Calm Place is not equipped to respond to mental health emergencies, and there can be a delay of hours or days between sessions and any messages sent outside of them. If you are in crisis or at immediate risk, please see the support and signposting information on our Disclaimer page, or contact emergency services.
7. Suitability and limitations
Before starting therapy, mindfulness or yoga, we'll discuss whether the service is a good fit for your circumstances. Some conditions may require guidance from your GP alongside, or instead of, the services offered here — this will be discussed openly and honestly if it becomes relevant. Yoga sessions should be undertaken within your own physical limits; please let your teacher know about any injury, condition or pregnancy before a class begins.
8. Complaints
If something about your experience falls short of what you expected, please raise it directly via the Contact page in the first instance — most concerns can be resolved through an open conversation. As a BABCP Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist listed on the CBT Register (membership no. 90342), formal complaints about therapy provision can also be raised with the British Association for Behavioural & Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).
9. Liability
While every care is taken to provide a safe, professional service, A Calm Place cannot guarantee specific outcomes from therapy, mindfulness or yoga — individual results vary. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under English and Welsh law.
10. Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated from time to time; material changes will be reflected by an updated effective date at the top of this page.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
