A Calm Place

Welshpool, Powys

Hi, I'm Rebecca Tonkinson

Founder, Cognitive Behavioural Therapist & Yoga Teacher

I enjoy working with people, and have done so for over fifteen years within the NHS — both individually and in groups, always working toward goals that belong to the person in front of me, not a generic checklist.

My own path into yoga began during my first pregnancy, where it became an enormous source of support — through pregnancy, birth, and beyond. That experience led me to train more deeply, including a specialism in pre- and post-natal yoga, and it remains part of my own daily practice today.

Mindfulness sits alongside that practice, both personally and professionally — I'm a qualified Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy teacher, and run courses both within the NHS and independently, including tailored workshops for workplaces and schools.

Whatever brings you here, my aim is the same: to help you enhance your wellbeing in mind, body and spirit, and to provide a calm place for you to restore, reflect and renew.

A little history

How A Calm Place came together

NHS years

Over fifteen years supporting people individually and in groups within NHS mental health services, working toward their own therapeutic goals.

Becoming a yoga teacher

Rebecca's own yoga practice began during her first pregnancy, where it proved invaluable through pregnancy and beyond — leading to teacher training, including a specialism in pre- and post-natal yoga.

Training in mindfulness

A personal mindfulness practice grew into professional training as an MBCT teacher, now woven into both therapy work and dedicated mindfulness courses.

Founding A Calm Place

A Calm Place was created to bring CBT, mindfulness and yoga together under one roof — a slower, more personal alternative to a purely clinical setting.

My approach

Whole-person, evidence-based, unhurried

Whether we're working through a CBT programme, practising mindfulness, or moving through a yoga sequence, my approach considers the physical, emotional, social and spiritual sides of wellbeing together — never just one piece in isolation.
