Legal
Accessibility Statement
Effective date: 1 June 2026
A Calm Place is a small private practice, not a public sector body, so this website isn't legally required to meet the Public Sector Bodies Accessibility Regulations. We've chosen to follow that standard anyway, because accessible design matters — especially for a wellbeing service.
1. Our commitment
We aim for this website to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA wherever practical, and to keep improving it over time.
2. What we've done
- Semantic HTML landmarks and heading structure throughout the site.
- A visible “skip to main content” link for keyboard users.
- Full keyboard navigability for menus, forms and the cookie preferences dialog.
- Clear, high-contrast focus indicators on every interactive element.
- Form fields with visible labels, error messages linked via
aria-describedby, and live status updates on submission. - Colour combinations checked for sufficient contrast against WCAG AA thresholds.
- Respect for the
prefers-reduced-motionsetting, which disables non-essential animation. - Responsive layout that works from small phone screens up to large desktop monitors.
3. Known limitations
As with most websites, there may be occasional gaps we haven't yet identified — for example, in complex interactive components as the site evolves. We treat every accessibility report as a genuine priority to fix.
4. Feedback
If you find any part of this site difficult to use, please let us know via info@acalmplace.com — please describe the page and, if you can, the device, browser or assistive technology you were using. We aim to respond within a few working days.
5. Accessibility of the services themselves
Beyond the website, accessibility is also considered in how sessions are delivered — for example, chair yoga for those who find floor-based movement difficult, and telephone-based therapy for those who find video calls harder to access. If you have specific access needs, mention them when you get in touch and we'll do our best to accommodate them.
